I was inspired to write this post after reading Jack Black's quote "According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. It's wings are too small to get it's fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies away because bees don't care what humans think is impossible." from Bee Movie.
Is it possible to change thoughts and patterns even if others don't think it's possible?
Why of course! Just like bees 'don't care what humans think is impossible', you too can fly!
In life we make choices every day. So why can't we choose to work on changing our thoughts and behavior patterns? The good news is if you are already thinking about it, with some help you likely can.
Many times when we begin "change talk" we can be met with a negative response from well meaning friends and family. They say things like, "Oh he'll grow out of it" or "but you've been that way for years" or "she's just an anxious kid" not realizing the full impact these issues have had on your life and the life of your family. Although they may mean well, it's time to be the bee and take flight.
The use of cognitive behavioral therapy is a perfect example of one of the tools used to tackle this exact issue. If you can change the thoughts that lead to the behavior, than you can choose to change your pattern.
Sounds simple enough doesn't it? But simple isn't always easy.
Lucky for you there is help! A skilled, trained therapist will know just how to help. So choose to be the bee, even if others don't think it's possible because only you and your family know when your ready for a change and when you are, I'll be here.
